Broken Xbox 360

Developer: Microsoft
Publisher: Microsoft
Release Date: Nov. 22, 2005
Systems: Er, Xbox 360
ESRB Rating: E - M
Official Web Site

In a nutshell: My first hour with a broken Xbox 360.

0:01 I put BioShock in my disc drive and turn the power on.
0:02 The TV is still black. I look down and notice three red lights surrounding the power button.
0:03 I desperately try to reset the system. No change.
0:04 - 1:00 Soft weeping.

Would I play this game for more than an hour? Not if I had a choice.
Why? I wanna play BioShock. Waaaaah!

This review based on a retail system purchased over a year ago. It will be missed.

Note: It probably goes without saying, but don't expect any Xbox 360 reviews on this site until this issue is resolved.

"What is this feeling? Fear? Me?!"

now i understand the meaning of those words.

totally a bummer. my heart goes out to ya.
on the flip side i hear that the turn-around time for the repair/replacement is not such a long wait. good luck!

Aww, and I was hoping you'd do an hour review of Bioshock too. Ah well, have fun getting it fixed.

Er... I did do an hour on BioShock. Click the word "BioShock" in the post above...

BioShock killed my machine too. It was a launch '360 (I bought it in December '05), and had served me well. Damn you, BioShock!!

Wow that sucks...
Mine is still good...
Hopefully it stays that way! lol
Have fun getting it fixed!

Wow, tough break. I can't believe that hasn't happened to me yet. I think I might fall into a catatonic depression if it did...

I'm glad you've still got other systems, at least, so you can keep blogging. I try to read every day because you always make me laugh. Keep it up! And good luck getting your baby back!

Right on Bioshock and with Halo 3 looming.

Terrible shame, I really loved your reviews of 360 games. 3 year warranty means you can still get it replaced for free, though, right? Should only take a few weeks.

Anyone get 2 rings of Death
?
My system keeps crashing with just the left 2 rings going red. Is this still under warranty? I am not too mad, as I bought my Xbox on Day one, so I guess its had its run...

Just got my second red rings, but this time I am also getting a free game out of the deal. If you haven't called the 4myxbox number yet, read this http://digg.com/xbox_360/Get_Red_Rings_of_Death_Get_a_Free_Game_from_Microsoft_Complete_Tutorial

I just moved to Scotland from Northern Ireland and didn't bring my 360 with me when I moved.

I have a horrible feeling my it's going to brick as soon as I get it back

Every day in the UK alone, another couple of thousand 360's turn up at the Microsoft repair centre in Prague.

I find it AMAZING, that Xbox 360 owners are still in denial, and still living the "it won't happen to me" dream.

Microsoft have alrady told you, your console is living on borrowed time.

You may get lucky, and it may fail when you have no new games to play, but more likely, as games become more system challenging, the likelyhood of Halo3, BiosShock or MassEffect turning your console into a brick IS VERY REAL.

The repair time is 6 weeks, but as "compensation", Microsoft may give you a 4 week Xbox Live card, if you work for any press/blogger site.

Dude...that sucks. My sincerest condolences. I've got two 360s, and I'm just praying that they don't RRoD at the same time, but I'm resigned to it being a "when" rather than an "if."

Kyle, I feel sorry for you... I hope everything gets back to normal asap, as I'm waiting for more 360 reviews!

Microsoft needs to rectify this Red Ring of Death flaw as soon as possible.

I too lived in the fear that my Glorious Xbox will Red-Ring. I purchased my 360 and 3 days after that, I started hearing Red-Ring stories across the globe. Perhaps mine is one of the luckier ones? *crosses fingers*
